Wey Hall Way-finding

The Way-finding system was created to establish a unified identity within the Wey Hall building on the Appalachian State University campus. The primary objective was to develop an in-house way-finding system that complies with ADA regulations and could be easily adjusted to accommodate the different purposes of each room.

Wey Hall is home to the art department, where classrooms are utilized for various purposes, including events and lectures. The department head desired a system that represented the building's versatility, a way-finding system that was coherent yet adaptable to the space's unique demands. Consequently, a system was needed that could adapt to the different functions the rooms may serve throughout the day.

Furthermore, the department wanted a system that could be produced in-house. The system was created with this consideration in mind, ensuring that it could be generated using the available machines within the building.

Modular design that could be build in house was a challenge but with the approach we developed a design where each room can be custom made for the activity that takes place with in them and easily changed for the next.
